This is a guest blog entry. Gyantunplugged.com does not necessarily endorse the opinions and expression viewed with the blogs so chill!

The music industry is synonymous with people seeking fortune and fame, at least in my opinion it is; so it never ceases to amaze me the people who obviously want/value the fame more. MOST of the people I know that have entered this business have done so with hopes of making large amounts of money whether it be to better the lifestyles of their families or to just be able to cop the fly sh*t. THEN you have the people that want fame at any and all costs. Those are usually the nut jobs. I take that back, maybe they were just left in a swing their ENTIRE childhood and are seeking attention… awwwwww, LMFAO!

The FAME is usually so glorified that people crave, fiend and lust for it it, and lust is some heavy sh*t cus’ we all know what people will do out of lust. The type of person I am I’d rather have the fortune and you could never know my name/face and I’d be just fine; all the more leeches that don’t bother me, cousins and them that don’t pop out the woodwork and people with frivolous lawsuits, etc. FAME is so consuming with some that they will do anything, hence these reality shows, etc. I’m saying any mo fo’ that will go on Flavor of Love and kiss and hump on Flav all the while he’s kissing and humping on other chicks is BEYOND ME! I can’t….. and it ain’t even so much to do with how Flav looks, shit it could be Denzel in Training Day character and he was finer than a mothaf*cker and I still wouldn’t do it, sh*t’s just crazy to me. But hey, now Hoopz, New York and Delicious are “famous” at least in some circles (the chitlin circuit), smh…

I think the biggest case of FAME at any and all costs would be the situation with The Source Magazine, Benzino and Dave Mays. HOW THE F*CK DO YOU LET A N*GGA DESTROY A MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR COMPANY CUS’ HE WANTS TO BE FAMOUS??????

Dudes had paper!!!! But, obviously that wasn’t enough for Benzino, that kid wanted to be mobbed when he stepped in the street! It wasn’t never gonna’ happen, he wasn’t that fly, lyrically he was so so and honestly outside of Guru and Preme’ wasn’t sh*t coming out the Bean (Boston). It would have been cheaper for him to employ a group of people to mob him every time he stepped out the house, he could of had paparazzi, a website made up and everything, he ain’t have to make n*ggas go broke! I mean people lost jobs cus’ of that dude, now they got that little tabloid looking ish’ and where do they even sell it, is anybody checking for it? The Source used to be the Hip-Hop Bible now it’s trash. All cus’ a n*gga wanted to be famous!

Now after Neyo and Keri popped you got every songwriter trying to be an artist. Hmmmmm how can I be politically correct here? Okay, who am I trying to fool, yall know I’m not gonna’ do that! Ummm Sean Garret, you’re a really nice guy but I’m gonna’ need you to stick to the pen and put that damn mic down! Play your position B, I don’t think it’s gonna’ work for you, I mean you can sing, I’m rooting for you and all that but to me everything you try to do holding the mic, just ok, everything you write FIRE!!!

Johnta Austin….. ummmmmmm boo, have a seat too please, Oceans 7, 8, 9 or 10 and you can throw in George Clooney and Brad Pitt and it’s still not gonna’ work for you. Also, if JD couldn’t save Janet and he’s hitting that, I ain’t got him doing nothing for you either and I’m not hating, I’m just saying, outside of Usher and Mariah he don’t seem to be faring to well. Brian Cox, I really just think he’s playing, I mean he’s singing, Djing, hell soon he’ll be break-dancing on MTV with Lil’ Mama. I don’t get serious artist vibe from him so I don’t have to much to say his way.

Everyone is not meant to be in the front, someone has to play the background position or there is NO front. As long as you’re making money that should be enough in my opinion. In saying that I’m not trying to crush anyone’s dreams but at some point we all WAKE UP (in my Donny McClurklin “we fall down but we get up”, gospel voice). I bet Benzino is wishing he didn’t do all them videos and BS now and he ain’t even got the paper no more so not only is he NOT FAMOUS, he’s broke. But wait! Maybe he is famous now, for being that dumb n*gga that f*cked up The Source! And instead of paparazzi now he got creditors and Kim Osario on his ass whenever he steps out the house, lol!

Come to think of it has anyone seen him or Dave? Maybe we should put out a milk carton alert for them.

I remember Gyant doing a similar blog on Keri H. sometime last year and I co-sign you both: stay in your lane and play your position! Ne-Yo is definitely the EXCEPTION to the rule. He just has that “it” factor that pops whether he’s behind the pen or behind the mic. But everybody else you named…just don’t see that happening. I wonder if it’s an ego thing. In that, if I know I can sing and I see people getting famous off a song I wrote, maybe my ego won’t let me ride with that. They need to take a cue from Diane Warren and check how songwriting can be more lucrative and long-lasting than the stage careers they will probably have.
