Shocker: Paula Abdul Out as “The X-Factor” Judge, Nicole Scherzinger & Steve Jones Out As Well!

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

It’s no secret that Fox’s “The X Factor” wasn’t the success former “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell had hoped for. With it’s first season completed, and also with mediocre ratings, it seems there’s a big shake-up going on. And, shockingly it’s being reported Paula Abdul is out.

Per Deadline Hollywood:

Not only are host Steve Jones and judge Nicole Scherzinger exiting from the Fox show, but now a Simon Cowell insider just told me that his longtime friend and American Idol colleague Paula Abdul won’t be returning as an X Factor judge next season. I understand from sources that none of the three left on their own accord and that it was cleaning house day at the so-so rated reality series. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any backlash against Simon because of Paula’s popularity.

Personally, I couldn’t get into this new reality program. With so many talent competition shows on the air, I didn’t see the point. And based on the ratings I wasn’t alone.

TV Scoop: “My Fair Wedding’s” @DavidTutera Sued By NYC Couple For Destroying Their Special Day!

Sunday, January 29th, 2012

The homie — and wedding planners to the stars — is in the news. And for the first time in history it’s not about his wonderful gift of planning extravagant weddings.

According the NY Daily Times, the reality start of the hit show ‘My Fair Wedding,” is at the center of a bitter lawsuit filed by a New York City couple making strong allegations that the highly respected wedding planner not only broke his vow to plan their lavish affair, but also tripled the fee in the process.

The star of “My Fair Wedding” was more party pooper than planner in November 2010 when Brooklyn-born Perez and her beloved tied the knot in the Dominican Republic, the suit charged.

“Due to the defendant’s arrogant and heartless actions, plaintiffs have been harmed personally and financially,” the now happily-married couple said in their lawsuit.

After bumping the Punta Cana wedding bill from $10,000 to more than $30,000, the toothy Tutera — whose client roster includes Elton John and Jennifer Lopez — didn’t even provide the invitations, the flowers or a DJ.

His biggest whiff on their prenuptial agreement: Tutera never delivered the wedding cake, leaving the jilted couple waiting at the altar with no dessert, the lawsuit charged.

The news article goes on to bash David by calling him an ‘ego-maniac,” which for national media outlet one could find a tad bias. And Tutera discounts the aforementioned claims entirely.

Tutera claimed he had to tend to a sick relative when he blew off the nervous couple shortly before their Nov. 6, 2010, wedding.

Tutera’s publicist Eda Kalkay, in an email, said the planner was “not interested in commenting at this time” on the marital discord.

Earlier this year, a bitter legal brawl between Tutera and a Boston “Bridezilla” over her $300,000 Singapore wedding was quietly resolved.

Yikes! I’ve met David only once (thanks to my lovelies at 135 Street Agency) so I can’t really comment one way or the other. All I can say is that Tutera came off nothing but professional and honest in the 45-60 mins spent with him.

Lawsuits suck in general. Let’s hope this gets resolved quickly.

TV Scoop: Wendy Williams Gets a Visit From NY Giants Devin Thomas!

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

Talk show host Wendy Williams got a rare surprise when “real-life hot topic,” star Devin Thomas of the NY Giants popped in for moment. He stopped by to discuss his single-hood, including setting up their winning field goal in overtime.

I have no idea what they are talking about but the reaction from the fans, and those shirtless poses, were appreciated. Check it out above.

TV Scoop: 18-Year “Oprah” Vet Lisa Erspamer Is Out At OWN!

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

Sad news on the home front of Oprah’s massive TV network. Though ratings have been vastly improving with the return of “Oprah Next Chapter,” it seems the struggling network continues to trim down its workforce.

Per Deadline Hollywood:

We’ve learned that Erspamer, EVP of production and development for the under performing cable network, was let go yesterday after an 18-year tenure with Winfrey. We hear that the news was delivered to Erspamer while Winfrey was out of the country. (Oprah has been in India to interview Deepak Chopra for her new show Oprah’s Next Chapter.) We hear Erspamer didn’t even receive the news from Oprah personally. No public statement was made. Instead an internal ”Assistant to the Office of the President” email was sent around only to staff: one of those impersonal “we wish her well” announcements. “Lisa was shocked,” a source tells us. “She’d been in Oprah’s inner circle. She went on cruises and vacations with Winfrey. She’d worked for her for almost 20 years. Oprah had transitioned her to OWN personally.”

When Oprah first brought her longtime producer Erspamer to OWN, Winfrey praised her as a “creative superstar”. Now we hear that Erspamer, who had been in charge of programming, is taking the fall for the network’s rough first year on the air. That includes the tanking Rosie O’Donnell daily talk show which Erspamer most recently was in charge of trying to fix.

Ouch. Mrs. Winfrey being out of town when her long standing employee gets the ax is a little off putting. But hey this is showbiz. Anybody in the biz knows that it could all be over in a blink of an eye. And its clear not even my fav Mrs. Winfrey is immune to dropping the hammer on folks.

On the upside I have learned that former producer to Rosie O’Donnell’s hit TV talk show “Rosie,” Shane Farley is back on as EP for the former talk show queen’s struggling show on OWN.

Personally, I don’t think the new “Rosie” is going to work on a network most people still don’t know how to find on their remote. But here’s hoping for the best.

ATL Blog: Checkout Trailer For ATL’s Newest Reality Show “ATL Bite Life”!

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

From ATL Bite Life Creator Nick Love:

Gyant

Good morning sir. As promised, you are the first one I’m sending the trailer of my new show, ATL Bite Life. This “pilot” season will be seen online on my site, ATLBiteLife.com, along with WatchUNN.com and several other sites/blogs that have agreed to post the episodes.

I could definitely use your support on this project. I feel like this could be a refreshing perspective on my city which has recently become more known for our Housewives shenanigans and the abundance of mediocre music being produced here. We’ve managed to keep this production cool, hip, and edgy without being cliche. I think you’ll appreciate it.

TV Scoop: Martin To Return To TV w/ New Sitcom Pilots!

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Could news reports Hollywood funnyman Martin Lawrence is currently in negotiations to return to television next year.

Per S2S:

TVGuide.com reports that CBS is developing two scripts for the comedian, who starred in the hit ’90s sitcom “Martin.” This time around fans should expect a more family centric comedy as opposed to the more adult humor that “Martin” was famous for.

One script comes from the mind of “The Bernie Mac Show” creator Larry Wilmore. It focuses on a single man who raises several foster kids with his sister.

The other  show, created by Tom Hertz of Adam Sandler’s  Happy Madison production company, will feature Martin as a family man. The sitcom will see Martin trying to keep his kid grounded while contending with bourgeois in-laws.

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Martin on television outside of his popular re-runs of “Martin,” from the 90′s. Can he do it again? And on CBS mind you? Only time will tell.
