Much of the world will clutching their pearls this Thursday and Friday as TV talk show queen Oprah Winfrey sits down with embattled cyclist/philanthropist Lance Armstrong for what is being called a “no-holds barred” interview where Lance will finally admit to doping accusations.

Winfrey and her best friend Gayle chatted on CBS “This Morning” where Oprah admits the interview was her toughest to date. Of course we got the video for you.

Check it out. I dont know about you but I’m calling Comcast to get OWN pronto for this interview. You will remember that Armstrong has denied any wrong doing throughout the years over doping allegations.

So far this is the easiest “get” of the year.

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

Though nobody can deny that Oprah’s new network showed signs of struggle initially, the talk show queens ratings has been on a steady incline for a good while now. From huge interviews, to additional programing, OWN is drawing in the viewers. And a new published report shows that OWN seems to be here to stay.No matter how many haters attempted to bring it down.

Per The Grio:

OWN’s new series Iyanla: Fix My Life featuring Evelyn Lozada, had a two-night premiere, Saturday and Sunday, and is the network’s highest rated series debut ever, ranking number 2 in all of cable when it aired Saturday night.

Season 2 of Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s premiered Sunday night and was the highest rated episode in the series history, ranking in the top 5 of all cable series during the time period.

Meanwhile Oprah’s exclusive interview with Usher, which aired on Oprah’s Next Chapter Sunday night, brought in 1.5 million viewers and ranked number 3 in its time period among women 25-54, posting quadruple and triple digit growth versus numbers from a year ago.

The week of September 10th marked OWN’s 35th consecutive week of total day year-over-year growth among women 25-54, for nearly nine consecutive months. Due to OWN’s ratings momentum, the network now ranks among the top 5 ad-supported cable networks on Saturday and Sunday night.

Go head Oprah. You better show them who is boss!

TV Scoop: @Oprah Wins BIG w/ @Rihanna Garnering Her 2nd Highest Rated Show w/ New Network!

Tuesday, August 21st, 2012

It look like Momma Oprah has about 2.54 million reasons to breath a sign of relief seeing that one of the worlds biggest stars interview didn’t land on deaf ears.

Sunday night’s “Next Chapter” with superstar Rihanna gained a ton of viewers as she opened up to the pro talk show host in ways a Producer can only dream. Robyn — as known by her lovely country of Barbados– held nothing back discussing her hectic profession, her love of family, the demons that surround us all, and how she feels about her former flame Chris Brown.

For me it was a 45 minutes (minus the commercials) of sheer excitement. I prefer more revealing interviews than the “fluff”. And, Oprah — nor Rihanna didn’t disappoint.

Previous guests on the show included The Kardashians (1.1m, 1.2m), Lady Gaga (0.8m), Steven Tyler (0.9m, 1.2m) and Pastor Joel Osteen (1.6m).

Twitter Scoop: @Oprah Fires Back At “Fan” @Awalkdatalk Who Claims She Does Nothing To Help ‘Hood Folk’

Monday, July 30th, 2012

Though we can all agree that Oprah’s new network OWN is on the ropes. Even I’ve stopped watching. Nobody can say that she’s down for count. And it seems one tweet from last night let us all know exactly what Mrs. Winfrey is all about.

It seems a disgruntled fan hit up Oprah’s twitter page last night questioning why she doesn’t help out more US ghettos. To which the humanitarian cut him off at the knees:

That’ll learn you all. Now if only we could give back to HER by watching her new network. If only she’d put out something worth watching. Ouch.

Audio Scoop: @Oprah Offers Up Her Take On #TrayvonMartin Murder, “It’s An American Tragedy”

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

Oprah Winfrey called into nationally syndicated radio program “The Steve Harvey Show” to discuss her new television network venture, and great new programing. And the talk show queen, held no punches when asked about her thoughts on Travyon Martin’s senseless murder.

Checkout the audio at the 11:40 mark.

“I am infuriated. I mean just last night I was thinking what a shame. Not just a tragedy but a tragedy for him and his family, Trayvon. But a shame and tragedy for a justice system in a country called America in 2012 where that man has not been arrested and questioned. It just is.”

TV Scoop: @Oprah Pulls The Plug On “Rosie”

Friday, March 16th, 2012

The writing is on the wall. We knew it was going to happen. According to the Hollywood Reported Rosie’s “return” to TV is over.

Per Hollywood Reporter:

OWN has pulled the plug on Rosie O’Donnell’s five-month old talk show .

The daily show will tape its final episodes on Tuesday, March 20th, to air that Friday in its 7 p.m. timeslot. The news comes two months after the ailing network announced it had hired Shane Farley (Rachel Ray, Rosie O’Donnell Show) to replace Page Hurwitz as the show’s executive producer, and would moved Rosie into a significantly smaller 70-seat studio. The latter was a bid to inspire a sense of intimacy and lower costs on a series that at the time was averaging just more than 200,000 viewers.

“I thank Rosie from the bottom of my heart for joining me on this journey. She has been an incredible partner, working to deliver the best possible show every single day,” said OWN chief Oprah Winfrey in a statement. “As I have learned in the last 15 months, a new network launch is always a challenge and ratings grow over time as you continue to gather an audience. I’m grateful to Rosie and the dedicated Rosie Show team for giving it their all.”

Added O’Donnell, “I loved working with Oprah in the amazing city of Chicago,” said Rosie O’Donnell. “I was welcomed with open arms and will never forget the kindness of all I encountered. It was a great year for me – I wish the show was able to attract more viewers – but it did not. So I am headed back to my home in New York – with gratitude. On we go!”

I sent Rosie ideas. Tons of ideas. She never got back. Oh well. On to the next one.

Email Scoop: @Oprah Talks South African School, Returning Stateside & Chris Rock’s Profound Message!

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

Y’all know I love me some Oprah. And though WSB-TV in Atlanta insists on shoving Monica Kaufman down our throats this summer by shifting O’s time slot from 4PM to 2AM as they prepare for an Oprah-less season this upcoming fall, I still remain strong fan of the daytime talk-show queen.

Check out Momma O’s cute email sent out to all her Oprah Winfrey email subscribers, which of course I am a part of:

Hello Friends of Summer
I’m So happy to be back in the USA.
Spent a week with my girls in S.A..

They were all stressed for tests, but doing fine. No major crisis this trip.

I love being with them and talking to them about all things important.
When I ‘m there I’m talking from the time I get up til I go to bed, about EVERYTHING teenage girls are going through. It’s the same all over the world.
I’m going back this fall to teach a class; calling it Life 101.
All the stuff I wish someone had told me about how the world works.

Should be fun since I love to teach. And they’re like sponges.
Like 12th graders everywhere this first class is both anxious and excited about going to college.
Most will be the first in their family. So it’s a very big deal for them, and they’re feeling the pressure.

Nothing like going out of country to have an even deeper appreciation for our own U.S.A. The Freedom to have options, something we often take for granted, is the most striking to me.

When Chris Rock was last on the show he said, “real wealth is having options”. I thought that was pretty profound.

I now stress to my girls that education prepares you to have options. Without it you have none.

Just took a walk around the neighborhood watching sprinklers on the back lawn. (I love sprinklers) Made me think about the red dirt road I traveled from Mississippi (no sprinklers) to the here and now.

And how that journey could have only been possible in the U.S.A.

I know the 4th of July has turned into picnics and fireworks, and barbecue moments. But it’s worthy of a pause, to think about what it really means to have Freedom.

And while we’re pausing think about those who sacrifice to make it so.

Wishing you all a Peaceful and Happy 4th of July.

Oprah

True wealth is having options.. hmmmmmm

TV Scoop: @Oprah Admits Mistakes W/ OWN, Assures She’s 100% Committed Post “The Oprah Winfrey Show”!!

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

Y’all know I love me some Oprah!! But even I’ve become perplexed by the programing on her newly launched cable channel OWN. What first was television programing with tons more heart and less sensationalism then anything on television, has slowly become an abyss of programing that can only entertain dedicated blue haired retiree’s of Momma O. Lord knows I tried my best to hang in their for “The Judds,” and Shania Twain’s “Why Not,” but being a fly on the wall to a celebrities life minus the ‘Kardashian’ affect turns out isn’t all that interesting.

But alas there’s hope as Winfrey addressed fan and programing concerns. And if it was up to her she’d have done it differently.

Per Hollywood Dead Spin:

Oprah Winfrey Network was filled with “bumps” in part because “I was all in with one foot out the door” as she finished the final season of her syndicated talk show. But she assured operators, that she now has “the ability to commit my full energy, feet first, body immersed” with her staff “completely 100% (committed) to the OWN mission.”

I can only imagine the perils of trying to launch a brand new TV network while also wrapping up the biggest and final episodes of your trademark brand. So I’m giving a pass on what’s developed so far. Let’s hope that everything is right for the fall season now she’s “completely 100% committed to the OWN mission!”
