ATL Blog: @LudacrisFoundation Teams Up w/ Ryan Cameron For “Four Fathers” Contest!

Shout out to all the fathers handling their business. And double shouts to Ludacris and the Ludacris Foundation. While the public persona of African-American men is oftentimes projected as deadbeat fathers continues, rapper-turned global brand- Ludacris is teaming up with that damn Ryan Cameron to honor the fathers in the game who are taking care of their children and excelling fatherhood.

Per The Ludacris Foundation website:

Enter The Ludacris Foundation’s Four Fathers Contest for a chance to win two tickets to Ryan Cameron’s 10th Annual Father Daughter Dance, “Tails and Tiaras” on June 17th, 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Georgia Aquarium!

Contest Rules:

* Fathers and daughters will create a video 60 seconds (or less) on the following question: “How has having your
daughter changed your life?”
* Upload the video for your contest entry to the Ludacris Foundation Facebook page.
* Deadline for posting the video to the Twitter and Facebook pages is May 10th.
* All Facebook fans of The Ludacris Foundation will also be able to “like” the videos and comment on the postings. The top 10 fathers with the most “likes”/votes on their video will be entered for a chance to win.
* Judging will be held by The Ludacris Foundation team and voting from Twitter followers and Facebook friends.
* Four winning fathers will be chosen and announced on May 16th.

Contest Eligibility:

* Fathers must have daughters 2 years old or older
* Fathers must reside in the Atlanta, Georgia metro area
* Fathers must submit and star in the video with their daughter
* Fathers will accept responsibility for providing daughters with “dress up” attire and escorting them to the dance
* By entering this contest, you agree to participate in this promotion including, but not limited to uploading the
video to Facebook, Twitter and The Ludacris Foundation website
* If selected, you also agree to participate in any photo opportunities, interviews and press related to this event

ATL Blog: It’s Official! 2 Chaiz Says ‘Adios’ To DTP!

There’s been rumors surrounding the move of budding rap star 2 Chainz. As you all know the tall MC was signed to Ludacris DTP records. But given his recent surge in popularity, a move was imminent. I love the people over at Disturbing The Peace, but they’ve failed to really get behind an artist since that damn Chingy. Just an observation. No shots!

The writing was definitely on the wall for a move. And finally, it seems, the playing field is about to get a little more even because Luda is now 2 Chainz label mate on Def Jam.

“It’s the Real University, Two Gun Gang, Street Executives. It’s not DTP no more,” he says. “I’m actually behind [Ludacris], he’s still my homie. I just took another route as far as running my own company and bossing up. But on the other hand, I’m still working with him. He has an album coming out this year, as well. Matter of fact, we are label mates, now, which is crazy. So, yeah, that’ll be cool. I’m looking forward to that.”

Just goes to show you that you can’t count anybody out in this business. Good look

ATL Blog: @Ludacris Loves The Kids, Hosts Coats For Kids Drive Along w/ Jonas Jennigs

Nearly 300 children received winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves and earmuffs just in time for Christmas, thanks to Grammy-winning rapper/actor Ludacris and NFL star Jonas Jennings.  Children of all ages attended the Coats for Christmas event, hosted by the College Park Housing Authority in College Park, GA.  The recreational room at the Rhunette Lindsay Senior Complex & Jack Longino Senior Mid-Rise Buildings was transformed into a Winter Wonderland with Santa’s elves, life-sized Christmas characters, a popcorn machine and the famous OMG photo booth. Youth ages 0-18 were treated to dinner (food & beverages),  soulful Christmas music, arts and crafts and had the opportunity to take pictures with Ludacris and Jennings.

The 2012 edition of Coats for Christmas was a collaborative effort between the Ludacris Foundation and Jonas Jennings.  ”I have always believed that charity begins at home. This is where I grew up,” Jennings explained when asked about his choice to focus on the College Park community. Ludacris took time out to thank the media for covering a positive event. “We appreciate you covering this event because it allows us to show others the positive things we’re doing in the community, which allows us to lead by example,” Ludacris said.

Yes people it’s that time again. Ludacris and his 6th Annual Luda Day weekend takes over ATL starting tomorrow. Not for nothing, but there’s something to be said for a man to have consistently and successfully hosted Labor Day weekend in Atlanta for six years. And of course no man is successful without a team like DTP to bring it all together.

Last year it was all about the brown juice as Terrance J, Vin Diesel, Cam’ron, Michael Jordan, Ne-Yo, Ciara, Taraji Henson, Gabrielle Union, Sanaa Lathan, Keri Hilson, Young Jeezy, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Tracy McGrady and many more. And I hear this year is going to be even bigger as Justin Bieber and VH1′s Carmello Anthony and LaLa Vasquez are confirmed and will be in the building for the celebrity basketball game taking place at Morehouse College [Purchse Tickets Here]

And if that isn’t sensory overload for fans, of course the super exclusive mansion party is said to be spectacular. Though its a private event, you can believe party crashers will be attempting to gain access to this super sex summer affair, which takes place Monday.

Plug Into The Scene: Keshia Knight-Pulliam Loves The Kids w/ @Ludacris @TrinaRockStar @Zaxbys2080lrr & More!

Anybody who knows me knows I don’t have the best things to say about that damn Keshia Knight-Pulliam. Perhaps it’s immaturity on my side that’s allowing me to still hold a grudge over wasting my time and energy a few years back, while single-hhandedly becoming my worst interview experience to date. But, I figured I’d offer up a temporary ‘cease fire’ on my personal issues with little Rudy. Especially since one of my favorite people ever, Tahira Wright of BrandedPR, sent me over what looks like a moment of kindness being displayed by the young(ish) actress.

I realize it’s a bit catty to take so many jabs, but it is what it is. Anyway, now that I’ve given you some context, check out what Pulliam pulled off with a few of her celebrity friends.

Actress, philanthropist and entrepreneur, Keshia Knight Pulliam, recently launched her non-profit Kamp Kizzy to empower young girls. Kamp Kizzy’s kick-off included a two-day summer day camp at Spelman College (Keshia’s alma mater) for 130 girls ages 11 to 16 years old. Keshia spent the entire two days with the girls from 8AM to 5PM as they participated in various activities including an acting workshop with The Alliance Theater’s “The Real Tweenagers” production, health and sex education classes, a campus tour of Spelman, and the
creation of body image silhouettes and vision boards. Friends of Kamp Kizzy, Ludacris, Trina, actor Christian Keyes, and former Mayor of Atlanta Shirley Franklin, stopped by to show support and offer words of encouragement to the girls.

Local Zaxby’s franchise (75N Exit 263) provided lunch for the campers on both days, while African Pride and Parlux Fragrances provided parting gifts.

There were so many events popping off during BET Hip-Hop Award weekend you would have been wise to pick two or three and call it a day. I chose to spend my time with the DTP crew and my boss Ludacris as he debuted his new line of headphones called Soul by Ludacris.

Per Thaddeus from Exclusive Access:

The Soul Experience is an intimate lounge with plush furniture, fireplace, visual displays, twitter station, “soul” food, and open bar of Conjure cognac cocktails to engage consumers on the new product launch. The three day preview commenced on Friday, October 1st and wrapped on Sunday, October 3rd with appearances by the man of the hour, Ludacris, Terrence J. Of 106 & Park, producer Jazze Pha, Benzino, Michael Mauldin of the Mauldin Brand Agency, Actress and fitness expert A.J. Johnson, Shanell SNL of Young Money and sister D. Woods, Kawan “KP” Prather, Comedian Lil JJ, DTP Co-CEOs Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon, and numerous tastemakers exclusively viewed the Soul by Ludacris headphone models before their official release.

Soul executives, Bob Bonefant and Len Davi, even personally led the guests on private tours of the product line. Soul by Ludacris is expected to officially launch at the top of next year.
