Video: Drake’s Forever The Best Callaboration Since “Swagger Like Us”?

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Drake called up to HOT 107.9 ‘s DJ Drama to discuss the ‘hype’ of his new record ‘Forever’ with Kanye, Wayne and Eminem. It seems the Canadian Hollywood hopeful is amazed at what he and Drama consider to be the biggest collabo since “Swagger Like Us”.

A side of me can respect the machine that’s behind Drake with powerhouses like Gee Roberson, Wayne and the others actively pushing him to be that next dude in the game. But the other side of me really wishes they’d stop with all the OVER hype.

Forever is ‘eh’ at best. And Eminem’s verse is the only verse that comes to mind. I couldn’t even hum anyone else’s part if my life depended on it.

And call me crazy, but I’m tired of every song being made in hip-hop these days being connected to Kanye, Wayne, Jeezy, and Drake. It can become overkill Mr. Roberson. I’m just sayin’.

Audio Scoop: Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Eminem Team Up ‘Forever’, Too Bad It’s Forgettable!

[Chirbit "Forever" Here]

Just hours after word broke that Wayne, Drake, Eminem and Kanye had joined for a new super collabo for King James new movie, “More Then A Game”, the track has leaked online. The homies over at New Music Cartel are proudly responsible for the leak.

Too bad I’m not proud of the overall presentation of said track. Forever, reached for higher heights vying for a classic record, but unfortunately the limit is the sky for this tune. The production is ‘Eh’ at best and the lyrical delivery from all but Eminem left much to be desired. Plus no disrespect to Drake, but I’m gonna need him to stop taking Trey Songz’ hooks cause we’re beyond meritocracy at this stage in the game. When I hear the Canadian actor sing I suddenly feel like I am a high school talent show.

But just as I was about to fall asleep as I listened to hip-hop’s current greats try their hardest at making the unworkable work, Eminem came in like a Redbull and got me rocking my head for a full 30 seconds.

Clearly in this case for Kanye and Wayne lightening did not strike twice. It’s OK. Dust yourself off and try again.

Music Scoop: King James Enlists Drake, Lil Wayne, Eminem and Kanye West For Historic Callabo!

Hip-Hop heads rejoice!

Blogger Karen Civil has blown the lid off new collabo that’s got the streets buzzing.

At this point in his career, there isn’t much Lil’ Wayne hasn’t seen or accomplished. Well, except for one thing, record a song with Eminem. By all accounts, that streak may soon be over. Their first collaboration, entitled “Forever”, will be on the soundtrack to the highly anticipated documentary,”More Than A Game.” Aside from Wayne and Em, the Boi-1da produced record will also feature two of today’s most talked about artists, Kanye West and Drake.

While Friday has been the speculated date for its release, the record will indeed surface sometime this week. One thing that is set in stone, however, is the quality.

“The record was mastered this past weekend and honestly it sounds better than ever,” said Young Money President Mack Maine. [Source]

Clearly the entire industry is behind Drake being the next great rap hope in the game. Let see if these guys make beautiful music together that will ‘Sound Better Than Ever”.

With such heavy hitters attached to the project it could go either way.

Drake On Gay Rumors: “Even Photoshop Couldn’t Change Me!”

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

drake

Last week Drake became the center of attention on the blogs over some photo’s that leaked from a private dinner party with the great rap hope’s family and friends. And when a picture, which was clearly taken out context, hit the net suddenly Drake became a spokesperson for the gay community. Well, he’s finally addressing the rumors..kinda.

The Canadian rapper posted a note on his blog addressing the matter in a roundabout way.

From the desk of Drake: [Regarding gay rumors]

People often ask me the craziest part about becoming “famous” and I’ve never had an answer until yesterday.

“You’ll spend half of your time defending yourself and the other half trying to stay sane resulting in you being forced to find time to be creative”

I often wonder in a time where new artists exist in a impersonal cyber world of instantaneous information, if we will ever have another rap legend that can manage to maintain the image that our idols had prior to this method of promotion. I am not suggesting that this person should be me, I am just urging a generation to understand that in order to have anyone of any significance in our lives that we can look up to there will be things that we must look past. There are people that buy sell and trade evil on a daily basis…when u believe in their brand is when they win.

“Even photoshop couldn’t change me”
- Me

When he says, “look past”, what does he mean exactly. That was a joke!

Why he even felt the need to address the bullshit is beyond me. Everybody in hip-hop has been dubbed “gay” at one point or another. It is what it is. If you know who you take down in the jumpoff hours why address foolishness?

New Music: Timbaland Teams Up w/ Drake & Jay-Z For “Off That”..Well Kinda!

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

jay-z-drake

Rapstarpromo.com just sent out a blast from Jay-Z and Drake.

The Timbaland produced track “Off That” is yet another cut from Jay’s highly anticipated new CD. But Drake fans are surely to be disappointed as the Canadian hopefull  doesn’t offer up a verse on this track.

The newcomer simply chimes in on the hook, which makes it a huge let down.

Have a listen below.

Personally, I could have had a V-8. Why is Drake letting Jay pimp his name for the music.

Chirbit the record after the jump.

Drake Gets Painted W/ The Gay Brush

0003

Welcome to the big leagues Drake.

The most talked about MC is starting to experience one of many negative aspects of his career.

Is Drake a homosexual? To be honest with you I have no idea. BUT I doubt the picture above says anything,

But of course certain gossip blogs are taking it the gay route:

In an interview with ABC news, Drake proclaimed he “loved women, I really love women.” Here are more SHOCKING exclusive pictures YOU WILL ONLY FIND ON BOSSIP of the bi-racial rapper with a middle-class and wealthy background but uses “ni**as” and “hoes” in his raps.

Are people turning on Drake already? Wow that didn’t take long.

Backtrack: Drake Apologizes To Sylvia Rhone!

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

drake-omgbet500

Drake tells MTV via SOHH:

“I can definitely say for me, for furthering the negativity, I can definitely say I apologize. I don’t know her personally to discredit her character. It’s not the right thing to do. I was looking for an opportunity recently to apologize for how vicious I’ve been. Not to say I negate my feelings… I still feel strongly about it. But I?m a person that usually handles things with much more tact.”

I knew he effed up when he went in on Mrs. Rhone. But just as a matter professionlism that was a really a stupid move. And I doubt this “apology” isn’t going to help.

PowerMove: Slyvia Rhone Shows Drake Who’s Really, “The F*cking Best”

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

drake

Proving that Drake is still green when it comes to the music business, a power move executed by Motown Records President Sylvia Rhone will keep Drake’s affiliation with Motown records in tact for projects to come.

Last week Gyantunplugged.com, told you about Drake taking his private beef with Sylvia public.  In a new interview, the Canadian rapper put Rhone on blast for what he claims were extreme negotiating tactics.

Never one to sit back and throw dirt on her good name, Sylvia has pulled the ultimate power move as reps at Motown are requesting ALL Drake Billboard chart entries be credited to Motown and not Universal Republic moving forward — a change that will be reflected in this week’s charts.

Ive said a 1000 times that I am no fan of Drake, but I am slowly becoming OK with the idea that he’s gonna be in my face for years to come. I’m sure I will come around soon enough, but right now I just can’t do it.

But I have a lot of luv for Trey Songz and Jaime Foxx.

The stars joined forces for a new video recently. Check it out some behind the scenes footage below.

Drake Goes In On Motown President Sylvia Rhone, Did She Really Threaten Drake With Legal Action To Get Him Signed?!?

Monday, August 10th, 2009

drake

While most music lovers tend to get all giddy about one’s beats or lyrics, I get my rocks off by learning about all the drama behind the scenes.

Motown President Sylvia Rhone is getting put on blast by Drake. Apparently while everyone was courting the young rap hopeful for a deal, Mrs. Rhone attempted a unique scare tactic that has officially offended Drake, and he’s got no problem telling us/the world about it.

XXLmag.com caught up with the Canadian actor-turned rapper recently, and he didn’t bite his tongue on his disdain for Motown and Sylvia, the details of his new deal, and who will probably end up executive producing his highly anticipated album.
