Dope Record Alert: @MyKoATL Drops World Smash – “Nothing I Won’t Do!”

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

You guys already know that I’m about as judgmental of new artists than any other music critic in the game. Oftentimes, today’s artist lack a certain level of star power that’s hard to ignore. However, Kansas City Chiefs football star Thomas Jones has found a diamond in the rough as it relates to solo recording artist Myko.

Many may not known, but Myko is already a star already! His music is getting crazy airplay and attention in Miami where the singer/songwriter’s record label is based. But after collecting tons of accolades from the West Palm Beach to Carol City, Myko’s in the ATL hard at work on debuting his music to his ATL fans and assuring his city stands behind him as his meteoric rise to super-stardom continues.

Myko and his team sent me over a dope record I had to share with you all. In a time where music oftentimes is stale and non-eventful, “Nothing I Won’t Do,” is universal smash that can’t be ignored.

The ATL native is gearing up for a worldwide splash on the scene. And from what I’m hearing it sounds like the tall vocalist is about to be out of here.

We here at Gyantunplugged.com is still collecting info on Myko, so be sure to look out for more from him in the future.

Artist Spotlight @AsiaBryant Represents For The Beautiful Browns w/ “Broken Hearts”!

Friday, April 29th, 2011

There aren’t many artist who catch my attention, however Nick Love’s incredible artist who has been grinding it out in the streets and recording studios of Atlanta for quite some time needs her shine. Her name is Asia Bryant. Known as a extremely talented songwriter, Bryant is preparing herself to attack the music industry and represent for the beautiful brown women in the world.

Lets be honest for a moment; the music industry often times overlooks the beautiful brown woman of the game, instead choosing lighter skinned European looking artists to rep their labels. However, what nobody is willing to admit is that ‘the light skinned’ artists aren’t making a dent in the game.  And what they lack, Asia Bryant brings in more ways then one.

Many people aren’t aware, but Asia auditioned for a spot in a female R&B group that another multi-platinum hip hop artist, Young Jeezy, was putting together. Although Asia was against being in a group and knew her calling was as a solo artist, she obliged. During the audition, Asia’s amazing voice caught the attention of Nick Love, former VP of Marketing & Promotions for Jeezy’s record label. Though the group disbanded, Love has taken Asia under his wing to make history.

After only 3 months, Asia was back in the mix churning out hooks and songs for several of the biggest, artists and producers in Atlanta. One of her most special creations, her single, “Can’t Help It” – a record that embodies Asia’s urban/alternative/world sound yet still oozes with the soul of all of those who have influenced her like Aaliyah, Mariah Carey, Tina Turner and Lalah Hathaway.

Asia’s signature tone is one to be celebrated. And we here at Gyantunplugged.com are thrilled to share her music with the world. Her current single, “Broken Hearts” is nothing short of attention grabbing. Produced by Matt Head, Asia chose the signature skylines of the ATL to shoot the video for “Broken Heart”.

With a new look, a great sound and a determination you don’t see in today’s artists , I am confident we will all see Bryant’s name in neon lights.

Dope Record Alert: @IamCardin Drops “Emergency” w/ Denisse Lara!

Monday, March 21st, 2011

Shouts to Cardin. He’s getting alot of luv from the blogs. First Gary over at Singersroom.com

The Kingston Jamaica native is easily one of my newest producers on the come-up. With musical comparisons from such prominent artists like Quincy Jones and Kanye West, Cardin working his ass off for his love of music.

Cardin’s mother, who immersed her son in the talents of Greats like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5 and Babyface, to name a few, played a pivotal role in exposing him to the sounds that became the source of his aspirations.

The musical geniuses behind the albums— none other than legends Quincy Jones and Micheal Jackson— became his biggest inspiration and aroused in him an unending fascination with songwriting and production.

Now LA based, Cardin is actively taking steps in the game to have the whole world hear his music.

“Emergency” is now available on iTunes [Go Here]

It’s really a dope record. Be sure to show ur luv.

Dope Record Alert: Pop Music Has New Princess – “Whip My Hair”

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

We all know that I’m not into music much these days. But even I can see a hit — and more importantly a star. The Smith’s new reigning princess of  pop music Willow has just released a track from her upcoming project and it’s brilliant.

If I had a little girl I would want her listening to music like this. It’s age appropriate and oh so cute. C’mon admit it. I mean she did just sign with Roc Nation.

Dope Record Alert: @thisisbstacks – “Ain’t So”

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

There are few and far between that I get to talk about an artist who’s under the radar, but making incredible strides with their music. Though the days of SOHH.com are gone, and I keep my musical opinions to myself these days. Sometimes I rise up from the entertainment reporting to listen around for anybody who’s catching the peoples attention.

North Carolina rapper B-Stacks, has been generating some impressive buzz. In 2007, B signed to Faculty Entertainment at 17 years old. He was featured in 14 out of 17 tracks of their highly anticipated mix-tape “Death B4 Dishonor Vol.2″ which gave the record company and B-Stacks a whirl of wind of buzz throughout the South.

“I feel that I am one of a kind, I don’t see nobody my age doing what I am doing right now” B-Stacks tells HipHopEnquier.com “I feel like a lot of the new artists coming out are just like protégés of mainstream artists. I intend on standing out from the rest of them”

With a grind some compare to some his rap idols, B-Stack’s newest record promoting his new highly anticipated mixtape “Code Red: 114″ is definitely a budding dope record alert in my eyes.

[Listen to "Aint So" Here]

With influences of multi-platinum artists such as, T.I, Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy, not mention skills of song writing and producing, B-Stacks has a killer combination to win the fight. B-Stacks embodies what many rappers lack; personality, ambition and humbleness.

Let’s see what develops.

Audio Scoop: @Hamilton_Park Drops New Pre Album “We Do It For The Sheets”

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Atlanta’s own Hamilton Park, the newest singing group making noise both online and in the sheets with their female fans, is back with a new pre album that I had to put ya on to.

HP is from the peach state that honed their harmonizing skills and developed chemistry by singing in church, on Marta trains and buses around the City of Atlanta looking to be discovered. Drawing comparisons from such legendary groups like New Edition, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Dru Hill, Jagged Edge and 112.

The group’s vocal texture and ability is reminiscent of a period in music when the artist had to have showmanship, talent, and real Vocals. Their songs are infectious expressions of youth that you can feel that’s often abandoned in today’s disposable pop environment.
