It’s official! Hollywood has a brand new box office star!!
After joining his father on an emotional odyssey in the hit film, “The Pursuit of Happiness,” Jaden Smith’s new film is a bonafide success.
The remake of 1980’s cult following film, “The Karate Kid” was the movie to beat this weekend, and made an impressive 55 million dollars in its first week. With a production budget of a mere 40 million dollar, clearly it’s already made its money back, along with a 15 million dollar profit.
Smith, who co-starred alongside Academy Award nominee Taraji P. Henson, and action star Jackie Chan, dominated the other 80’s remake “The A-Team,” which came in at #2 with a meager 25 million.
The television adaptation, that cost 110 million dollars to produce, received mix reviews.
Rounding out the list was “Shrek Forever After”, “Get Him To The Greek”, “The Killers” and, “Prince of Persia.”
