There’s not many celebrities that I actually connect with on any real level. But Outkast’s Big Boi is so real and authentic that most would it find it hard pressed to not vibe with the world famous MC and philanthropist, music label owner and multiple Grammy Award recipient.
Born on February 1, 1975, Antwan Patton has accomplished a lot in his short time on this planet. From a prestigious rap career, with his childhood friend Andre 3000, to a now flourishing solo career, Patton not only embodies what hip-hop culture is, but also has learned to not take it all so seriously in the process.

According to the Miami-Dade County Corrections Department, Mr. Boi (real name Antwan Patton) was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The controlled substances were listed as ecstasy pills, MDMA powder and Viagra.
According to the Miami-Dade County Corrections Department, all charges are felonies.
Law enforcement sources tell us he was busted by customs and border patrol dogs as he was exiting a cruise ship. We’re told Big Boi didn’t have a prescription for the Viagra.
I wasn’t even there and I already know what happened. Customs and Border patrol people is nothing to play with. Teachable moment: Hire someone on your team to carry all the alleged illegal materials. We can always get them out of jail later. The press from this alone isn’t good seeing as though Big is currently pushing his ultra plush new limited edition spirit Crown Royal black.
At the end of the day Big Boi is a hero in my book. This little blip won’t matter in the long run.

All artists and designers will be tasked with using their craft to create something that celebrates what “The Crown Life” means to them — finding royalty in everyday experiences.
Rapper, songwriter, and producer Big Boi has partnered with Crown Royal to develop unique content and put his own spin on the iconic Crown Royal bag. Cameras went behind the scenes to document Big Boi in compelling moments of his life and career that showcase his definition of “The Crown Life.” The short film will let audiences into Big Boi’s life as he performed at the 2011 Grammy Awards; inside his studio, Stankonia, as he prepares for his latest projects; and an evening out on the town in his hometown of Atlanta with stops at his favorite spots to unwind.

Contrary to popular belief stars are not born every day. Some would say they only come around once in a lifetime. Well yesterday Atlanta rap legend Big Boi and his daughter Jordan gave two stars their chance to shine at the lunch of Purple Ribbon Kidz at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Atlanta.

Rapper impresario Cypress blew away the crowd with his infections kid inspired rap lyrics and bounce-able beats courtesy of super-producer Nate Butler. Judging by the pictures above the ladies definitely love little cypress.
Big Boi rolled out the purple carpet as he launched Purple Ribbon Kidz, which is his daughter Jordan Patton’s new record label. The event featured a live performance Gabbie Rae, the label’s first signed artist, and was hosted by Nickelodeon’s Adrian Kali Turner. The party also included live performances by Audio (formerly B5), Cypress and Von Grey.
Yesterday in Atlanta, Big Boi shot his new video with Janelle Monae on a new duet the two have in the can called “Be Still”. The video was shot over the weekend at Studio Space Atlanta and was done in front of a green screen. See more pics below.
The homie Big Boi performed a free concert in Miami for Myspace fans at SOBE Live. Rocking to a live band, Antwan Patton ran through an array of hits including material from his current album, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty.
The rapper spoke to MTV News this week about choosing tracks for each project. “I got about four, five songs that I’m tinkering with right now,” Big Boi explained to MTV News.
“But at the same time, there’s a couple of records that we picked out for the Outkast record too. So while Dre is working on his records, we’re kinda, with Organized Noize, seeing what’s gonna go for the ‘Kast album.
And at the same time, with the beats I already got, I’m just making the most out of my time, whether I’m on the road touring or just on the bus or whatever; just putting ideas down.” Big Boi’s next album, Daddy Fat Sax, is scheduled for a 2011 release.
I don’t know about any of y’all, but I’m sooooo ready for a freaking Outkast album. Both Dre and Big’s solo albums are cool, but the music is best complimented when they work together.
Lord knows I’m a fan. But if Def Jam don’t start looking my way for them site takeovers, it’s about to be a wrap on everything Def Jam around these parts.
