Shouts to Hannah Kang at Grand Hustle for putting me on to one of Tip’s secret weapons over there. His name is Mars and he’s 1/3 producer partner with T.I.’s Smash Factory. Truth be told I’m very familiar with Mars. A few years ago, Mars was slated to release a reality show through Tip’s production company. It was covered throughout all the blogs, but for some reason the actual show never came out. However, it’s that the project is picking up steam because heeeeeee’sss baaaaaacckkkk!
The baby faced musical prodigy has collaborated and produced records for some of the major hip hop and R&B artists of this day and including Snoop Dogg, Tyrese Gibson, Mac-10, and Ghostface Killah.
After years of collaborating with the likes of Just Blaze, Brian Michael Cox, and the Underdogs to name a few, Mars has recently begun to receive his own self-deserved acclaim for his signature chord progressions. In Spring of 2008, Mars and Larrance co-produced the Game’s highly anticipated release LAX single “Dope Boys” featuring Travis Barker incorporating their distinct rhythmic style, synth-based beats, with a touch of futuristic effects.
With such a diverse group of talented musicians, he and “1500 or Nothin” members have also showcased their versatility by serving as tour support for multiple artists such as T.I., Diddy, David Banner, Snoop Dogg, Anthony Hamilton, and Musiq among others. “1500 or Nothin” is currently on tour with multi-platinum artist Lupe Fiasco. Despite his numerous musical achievements, Mars is a successful entrepreneur. He owns a production company entitled SMASH FACTORY with multi platinum artist T.I. and also is in the initial stages of his television show “Life on Mars,” due to air in the year of 20010.
