My Two Cents: “Gucci Doesn’t Deserve Redemption, What He Needs Is a Life Sentence At a Drug Rehab Facility And A One Way Ticket To Loserville!”

By now I am sure that you’ve heard that Radric Davis aka Gucci Mane is currently behind bars due to several probation violations, which includes testing positive for cocaine, and marijuana as well as failing to complete his 600 hours of community service. Truth be told I have known about Davis’ legal matter for quite sometime, but due to my positive relationship with his record label, I chose to keep my fingertips silent in order to help the team reach the winning goal.

But after reading his attorney, Dwight L. Thomas’ response on the legal situation via MTV, I have reconciled my loyalties and am publicly washing my hands of the loser we all call Gucci.

Every since my arrival to this great city, Gucci’s name has been marred by legal dramas. The common criminal has been and out of jail for murder, a series of probation violations, etc. And it’s got me seriously questioning today’s horrendous music scene.

Why is that these record labels continue to support the vile of humanity, rather then stand behind hard working – and criminal free – MC’s in the game? Have we really become a world that pumps our fists for blatant criminals, who show no sign of redeeming themselves just to satisfy the occasional quench for a club hit?

Take a look at what his lawyer is saying:

According to Thomas, Gucci’s probation for a 2005 aggravated-assault case was revoked because the flamboyant rapper has not completed a court-ordered 600 hours of community service, he’s tested positive for marijuana and cocaine during visits to his probation officer, and he has not been getting the proper permission to travel as mandated previously by the judge.

“[Gucci] told the court yesterday he was on a road to recovery in terms of being clean and sober,” explained Thomas, who also represented T.I. in his recent gun case. “[He is] alcohol free and weed free. … He’s also dealing with the emotional issue of killing somebody. He’s been in counseling and therapy.”

Hogwash!

It is my belief that Gucci Mane is nothing more then a common thug who has no respect for himself much less his craft. And it’s a shame because he had the perfect set up and support from his record label, BET, the fans and even Usher.

Davis had the best publicity money could buy. Yet, artists like B.O.B., Jus Nice, Nate Butler and many more are finding it hard to find a glimmer of support from the powers that be.

In 2009 – and with our very first black President – is disgusting and disturbing that n*ccas like Gucci refuse to step into their manhood and try to be an example to their often times young fan base.

There are times in life when you must give the next man the benefit of the doubt. But after 6 years of nothing but public turmoil, I wash my hands of Radric Davis. I deleted all his music from my itunes.

He doesn’t deserve redemption, what he needs is a life sentence at a drug rehab facility and a one way pass ticket to loserville.

Epic Fail Gucci. You had the whole world in your hands and you snorted it all away.
