Download of The Day: @GorillaZoe New Mixtape -”Gorilla Zoe’s World”!

Monday, April 9th, 2012

Major shout out to Block Entertainment’s Gorilla Zoe. The smoky voiced MC is back with a new mixtape. After his third release last year, “King Kong,” Zoe’s back. His brand new mixtape, “Gorilla Zoes World,” has generated some good buzz. Joining forces with The Traphollics and Sonny Digital, you can hear the experimentation Zoe’s attempting with street release. Personally, I like it.

Dope Record Alert: @Chrisworldmusic Drops New Hot Song For Spring “808 Remix”!

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

Y’all already know I am very hard on today’s music artists. They come and go, and most of them are whack and have no real talent, just eyes for stardom. But sometimes I get pleasantly surprised. And that is definitely whats happening with recording artist Chris. Her new club smash “808 Remix” is the perfect song for Spring (which is today coincidentally).

The Soblu Music Group signee, is gearing up to take over the game. And though 2011 was very good to Chris’ budding music career, she’s not to be confined to just music. In 2010 she produced & directed “Jazz in the Diamond District” which was critically acclaimed in the film industry. And in 2012 it seems we can expect even more. On Valentine’s Day, Chris released her Electro/Dubstep remix project, “Spread The Love (the Remixes)” and is planning to release another album, “XOXO, Chris,” later this year. She is also producing her 2nd film, Afterschool, slated to shoot this summer.

I co-sign this record fully and am adding it to my play-list today. How about you? http://www.chrisworldmusic.com

Dope Record Alert: @MyKoATL Drops World Smash – “Nothing I Won’t Do!”

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

You guys already know that I’m about as judgmental of new artists than any other music critic in the game. Oftentimes, today’s artist lack a certain level of star power that’s hard to ignore. However, Kansas City Chiefs football star Thomas Jones has found a diamond in the rough as it relates to solo recording artist Myko.

Many may not known, but Myko is already a star already! His music is getting crazy airplay and attention in Miami where the singer/songwriter’s record label is based. But after collecting tons of accolades from the West Palm Beach to Carol City, Myko’s in the ATL hard at work on debuting his music to his ATL fans and assuring his city stands behind him as his meteoric rise to super-stardom continues.

Myko and his team sent me over a dope record I had to share with you all. In a time where music oftentimes is stale and non-eventful, “Nothing I Won’t Do,” is universal smash that can’t be ignored.

The ATL native is gearing up for a worldwide splash on the scene. And from what I’m hearing it sounds like the tall vocalist is about to be out of here.

We here at Gyantunplugged.com is still collecting info on Myko, so be sure to look out for more from him in the future.

Download of The Day: @DonCannon ‘s @RichandFameus Drops “Ready For Takeoff”

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

Shouts to Don Cannon, the self-proclaimed number one co-signer, for putting me on this new musical duo from the south.

These Miami-based artists have been brought up with the gift of music in their veins. Rich & Fameus are artists who are generating a crazy buzz with their infectious musical talents. These identical twin rappers successfully merge the world of pop and hip-hop with a hint of rock to create a sound that the industry is not used to hearing. Rich & Fameus are part of this new age of artists mixing genres to evolve music into a whole new species.

Their casual skateboard lifestyle may seem disarming yet there is nothing disengaged in their music or in the story of their journey. As inner city youths that grew up in and out of the New York projects they saw both sides of urban life. They saw the dark-side of a city struggling with a growing crime-rate but they also saw a city rich with culture thanks to those people who fought hard to expose them to an eclectic mix of music and customs. Their music is refreshing, as they paint a portrait of the streets in a very natural and real way. Rich & Fameus are coming to bring what music is lacking, diversity.

Dope Record Alert: @IamCardin Drops “Emergency” w/ Denisse Lara!

Monday, March 21st, 2011

Shouts to Cardin. He’s getting alot of luv from the blogs. First Gary over at Singersroom.com

The Kingston Jamaica native is easily one of my newest producers on the come-up. With musical comparisons from such prominent artists like Quincy Jones and Kanye West, Cardin working his ass off for his love of music.

Cardin’s mother, who immersed her son in the talents of Greats like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5 and Babyface, to name a few, played a pivotal role in exposing him to the sounds that became the source of his aspirations.

The musical geniuses behind the albums— none other than legends Quincy Jones and Micheal Jackson— became his biggest inspiration and aroused in him an unending fascination with songwriting and production.

Now LA based, Cardin is actively taking steps in the game to have the whole world hear his music.

“Emergency” is now available on iTunes [Go Here]

It’s really a dope record. Be sure to show ur luv.

Dope Record Alert: @JarvisTheArtist & @WackaFlockaBSM Is “Coppin The Best”!

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

With Spring right around the corner recording stars Jarvis and Wacka Flocka have teamed up on a new smash. You remember Jarvis, right? Well he’s been around for a minute working on his craft, getting ready to take over the game with stuuuupid R&B tracks. His new record “Coppin The Best” has strong radio appeal, and an even better club appeal.

Wacka of course out his ’stank’ on it to give it the “street” look records seem to need these days.

All in all I like it.

Check out some amazing behind the scene footage as Jarvis and Wacka gives you a birds-eye view into the creative process of making “Coppin The Best”

Dope Record Alert: Pop Music Has New Princess – “Whip My Hair”

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

We all know that I’m not into music much these days. But even I can see a hit — and more importantly a star. The Smith’s new reigning princess of  pop music Willow has just released a track from her upcoming project and it’s brilliant.

If I had a little girl I would want her listening to music like this. It’s age appropriate and oh so cute. C’mon admit it. I mean she did just sign with Roc Nation.

Dope Record Alert: “F*ck You” Cee Lo Green

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

I’ve been meaning to get to this new song with Cee Lo that’s sweeping the nation. Though GU is in a heavy reconstruction with a brand new site, that’s set to launch VERY SOON, I had to do a blog about it.

Easily the male anthem of 2010, “F*ck You” is racking up digital sales, as well as garnering MILLIONS of hits. While the video above isn’t the actual visuals for Cee Lo’s new smash, its recieving so much popularity, that I haven’t even bothered looking for the original.

Listen, if you have kids usher them out pronto, or plug in the earphones. Many people know that my musical opinion has waned over the years simply because there’s just far too much bad music out there what more can I say? The music of today sucks for the most part. But it’s song like these that remind me why I fux with Cee Lo — and unfortunately the music industry.

Dope Record Alert: @thisisbstacks – “Ain’t So”

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

There are few and far between that I get to talk about an artist who’s under the radar, but making incredible strides with their music. Though the days of SOHH.com are gone, and I keep my musical opinions to myself these days. Sometimes I rise up from the entertainment reporting to listen around for anybody who’s catching the peoples attention.

North Carolina rapper B-Stacks, has been generating some impressive buzz. In 2007, B signed to Faculty Entertainment at 17 years old. He was featured in 14 out of 17 tracks of their highly anticipated mix-tape “Death B4 Dishonor Vol.2″ which gave the record company and B-Stacks a whirl of wind of buzz throughout the South.

“I feel that I am one of a kind, I don’t see nobody my age doing what I am doing right now” B-Stacks tells HipHopEnquier.com “I feel like a lot of the new artists coming out are just like protégés of mainstream artists. I intend on standing out from the rest of them”

With a grind some compare to some his rap idols, B-Stack’s newest record promoting his new highly anticipated mixtape “Code Red: 114″ is definitely a budding dope record alert in my eyes.

[Listen to "Aint So" Here]

With influences of multi-platinum artists such as, T.I, Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy, not mention skills of song writing and producing, B-Stacks has a killer combination to win the fight. B-Stacks embodies what many rappers lack; personality, ambition and humbleness.

Let’s see what develops.

Audio Scoop: @Hamilton_Park Drops New Pre Album “We Do It For The Sheets”

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Atlanta’s own Hamilton Park, the newest singing group making noise both online and in the sheets with their female fans, is back with a new pre album that I had to put ya on to.

HP is from the peach state that honed their harmonizing skills and developed chemistry by singing in church, on Marta trains and buses around the City of Atlanta looking to be discovered. Drawing comparisons from such legendary groups like New Edition, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Dru Hill, Jagged Edge and 112.

The group’s vocal texture and ability is reminiscent of a period in music when the artist had to have showmanship, talent, and real Vocals. Their songs are infectious expressions of youth that you can feel that’s often abandoned in today’s disposable pop environment.
