Dope Record Alert: “F*ck You” Cee Lo Green

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

I’ve been meaning to get to this new song with Cee Lo that’s sweeping the nation. Though GU is in a heavy reconstruction with a brand new site, that’s set to launch VERY SOON, I had to do a blog about it.

Easily the male anthem of 2010, “F*ck You” is racking up digital sales, as well as garnering MILLIONS of hits. While the video above isn’t the actual visuals for Cee Lo’s new smash, its recieving so much popularity, that I haven’t even bothered looking for the original.

Listen, if you have kids usher them out pronto, or plug in the earphones. Many people know that my musical opinion has waned over the years simply because there’s just far too much bad music out there what more can I say? The music of today sucks for the most part. But it’s song like these that remind me why I fux with Cee Lo — and unfortunately the music industry.

Dope Record Alert: @thisisbstacks – “Ain’t So”

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

There are few and far between that I get to talk about an artist who’s under the radar, but making incredible strides with their music. Though the days of SOHH.com are gone, and I keep my musical opinions to myself these days. Sometimes I rise up from the entertainment reporting to listen around for anybody who’s catching the peoples attention.

North Carolina rapper B-Stacks, has been generating some impressive buzz. In 2007, B signed to Faculty Entertainment at 17 years old. He was featured in 14 out of 17 tracks of their highly anticipated mix-tape “Death B4 Dishonor Vol.2″ which gave the record company and B-Stacks a whirl of wind of buzz throughout the South.

“I feel that I am one of a kind, I don’t see nobody my age doing what I am doing right now” B-Stacks tells HipHopEnquier.com “I feel like a lot of the new artists coming out are just like protégés of mainstream artists. I intend on standing out from the rest of them”

With a grind some compare to some his rap idols, B-Stack’s newest record promoting his new highly anticipated mixtape “Code Red: 114″ is definitely a budding dope record alert in my eyes.

[Listen to "Aint So" Here]

With influences of multi-platinum artists such as, T.I, Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy, not mention skills of song writing and producing, B-Stacks has a killer combination to win the fight. B-Stacks embodies what many rappers lack; personality, ambition and humbleness.

Let’s see what develops.

Audio Scoop: @Hamilton_Park Drops New Pre Album “We Do It For The Sheets”

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Atlanta’s own Hamilton Park, the newest singing group making noise both online and in the sheets with their female fans, is back with a new pre album that I had to put ya on to.

HP is from the peach state that honed their harmonizing skills and developed chemistry by singing in church, on Marta trains and buses around the City of Atlanta looking to be discovered. Drawing comparisons from such legendary groups like New Edition, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Dru Hill, Jagged Edge and 112.

The group’s vocal texture and ability is reminiscent of a period in music when the artist had to have showmanship, talent, and real Vocals. Their songs are infectious expressions of youth that you can feel that’s often abandoned in today’s disposable pop environment.

Dope Record Alert: Ludacris – “How Low Can You Go”

Friday, December 4th, 2009

Picture 118

You know there aren’t many rappers out there that I pay too much attention to these days. Often times their gimmicks and one trick pony type sounds becoming too mind numbing for my increasing intelligence. But, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges is easily at the top of my list with his consistent track record. And proving my point, Luda has dropped the first single from the highly anticipated co-ed album, “Battle of Sexes, ” called “How Low Can You Go.”

With Production by T-Minus of Canada, the rapper-turned successful actor performed “H.L.C.Y.G.” at this years BET Hip-Hop Awards with Shawnna. But just like Gyantunplugged.com excluisvely told you earlier today, Shawnna was unceremoniously dropped from the project due to loyalties issues.

The beauty of this record is the fact thats its all inclusive and universal. Black, White, Gay, Straight everybody can bounce their shoulders to it. Hell, I wanna hit the clubs as I type this out!

Listen To “How Low Can You Go” Here

And before the rumors start, though Trick Daddy did leak his version of the same song over the song, Luda is the owner of the record. And T.D. knew it and didn’t care.

Too bad he doesn’t have Chris’ [look at me getting on a first name basis with ole boy] delivery, or star power to make it a smash,

I see “How Low Can You Go” being on the top of ALL the charts in 5,4,3,2,1….

Dope Record Alert – Shawty Lo Feat Nate Butler “Blenda”

Friday, December 4th, 2009

shawty-lo-mtv1

It’s not in my nature to toot my own horn, but I’ve just been informed that Atlanta rapper, and T.I. frienemy Shawty Lo has just dropped his new single off his new album Carlos called “Blenda”.

If you’ll remember, the dope record was first posted on Gyantunplugged.com over the Summer. Originally, producer/songwriter/rapper/singer Nate Butler recorded the track and named it “Booty In A Blenda” and allowed me to get a first listen to the audio treat while expeirmenting with a different sound. I immediately dug the track and was blessed to be the first person to post it on the blog.

Download link here: Shawty Lo- Blenda [No DJ]

Not two weeks went by before Nate was being courted to sell the song to majors in the game, however Shawty Lo’s wallets and artist expression ran so deep that he was the one who got the track for his new album due in early 2010.

Lo added his unique sound to the track and final result is music magic. And to show how much talent Nate has, he even managed to stay on the track singing background.

“Blenda” is club smash that I have every bit of confidence is going to revamp Shawty’s image and overall sound.

Plus I’m also hearing that a video is soon to follow.

Great job Nate!
