The hip-hop community has been an uproar all week with the developing scoop courtesy of Allhiphop.com. If you aren’t aware the dedicated urban site posted a controversial story that a convicted killer, who’s currently in jail for life on an unrelated conviction, Dexter Issac admitted to being the gunman behind the 1994 shooting of hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur, that many feel lead to his death two years later.

According to Issac, the order came directly from James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond, who allegedly paid the non-credible convict $2500.00 “plus all the jewelry” except for one diamond ring [whatever the hell that means]. Personally I couldn’t allow my opinion to be exploited over some criminal, who I feel, is seeking attention and publicity. Thus I ignored the story.

Fast-forward to today and it’s clear I made the right choice as we are about to enter a classic game of he said/he said.

Per The NY Daily News:

“It’s a flat out lie,” Rosemond’s lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman told the Daily News. “Dexter Isaac is not claiming this 17 years later to clear his conscience. He’s doing it because he’s told anybody who will listen he doesn’t want to die in prison. He has kids and wants to work off his sentence. He can’t be trusted.”

Lichtman said Rosemond is wanted on a federal fugitive warrant after prosecutors indicted him in a case that includes narcotics charges.

Rosemond has denied any wrongdoing and said in a statement last month that Isaac was a government informant.

Clearly without any evidence a story is just that — a story. So who the hell really knows who did what. Personally, I can’t allow myself to get riled up over vulgar innuendo and gossip when we talk about such a prolific icon to rap music and rap culture.
