Plug Into The Scene: Möet Rosé Lounge Presents @NeYoCompound Champagne Life Listening Event!

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

The homie Ne-Yo held a VIP listening session last night at MF Sushi in Midtown along with Moet. As usual I was on my way, but suddenly became over it. However, judging by the pictures taken by Kiddunot.com, it looks like typical “Groundhogs Day”. Except for the old spice guy being in attendance.

Ne-Yo is currently promoting his new album “Libra Scale” which is due to be released sometime in Oct.

Ludacris, Roscoe Dash, Kenny Burns, Quincy Combs, Lisa Wu, Kat Graham, James Brown’s daughter Yamma Brown Lumar and more of Ne-Yo’s celebrity friends all came out to pop bottles and take in the music. No word yet on the project just yet, but knowing Ne-Yo’s work, I’m sure its going to be nothing short of brilliant.

Ludacris showing Ne-Yo some luv.

Quincy Combs..

The homie Nate Walka

I can’t BELEIVE I missed the Old Spice guy. Damn! That would’ve been the interview of the night.

Plug Into The Scene: @PrincessDigital Host’s @BET’s “My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth About Women And Hip-Hop” Event 8/30

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Female rapper, Princess, will host a special viewing party for BET’s new Documentary “My Mic Sounds Nice: A Truth about Women and Hip Hop” on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 9:00 p.m. at Tongue & Groove in Atlanta, Georgia.

The documentary, “MY MIC SOUNDS NICE: A TRUTH ABOUT WOMEN AND HIP HOP” is an appealing, inside look at how women have affected rap music, and in turn how rap music affects female MCs of past and present. Artists such as MC Lyte, Missy Elliott, and Queen Latifah contributed significantly to the shaping of hip hop music, bringing new sounds to the record labels. With the emergence of a younger generation of women in hip-hop like Nicki Minaj, “MY MIC SOUNDS NICE: A TRUTH ABOUT WOMEN AND HIP HOP” serves as a commentary for how hip hop music is influenced by women and vice versa. This documentary examines gender-specific differences in artistry, marketing, promotion and economics, explores why there are far fewer female than male MCs, and discusses whether there’s still a place for women in hip-hop.

“This is a story that could not be told by one voice. It required a chorus. And although this story is comprehensive, it is still likely one of many truths about the role of women in hip-hop” said Stephen Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials.

“MY MIC SOUNDS NICE: A TRUTH ABOUT WOMEN AND HIP-HOP” features revealing interviews with journalists, executives, and rappers, including Missy Elliott, EVE, Trina, Rah Digga, MC Lyte, Yo Yo, Questlove, along with hip-hop moguls Jermaine Dupri, Russell Simmons, Kevin Liles and many more. “MY MIC SOUNDS NICE: A TRUTH ABOUT WOMEN AND HIP HOP” is directed and produced by Ava DuVernay.

Exclusive: Tidbits From Russell Simmon’s 11th Annual Art for Life Benefit W/ @JillZaran @AliciaKeys @TheRealSwizz @Diggy_Simmons & More!

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Over the weekend Russell Simmons held his 11th Annual Art for Life in the Hampton’s and you already know Gyant’s got the tidbits for you thanks to a trusted source.

Of course everybody who’s anybody was there including, but not limited too, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Anthony Anderson, John Legend, Selita Ebanks, Russell Simmons, Diggy Simmons & more.

The event, which was flowing with endless amounts of Bombay Sapphire.

According to my spies:

- a pregnant Alicia Keys coming to support honored Swizz Beats, but ducking behind the red carpet to avoid having to talk to press. She spent the rest of the night camped at her table at the Bombay Saphire sponsored event.

- Selita Ebanks, the victoria secret model, arrived on the arm of Maxwell and seemed to be the hot item of the night. Despite all the other celebs at the party, Selita was slammed with drooling fans all night who wanted to snap photos. Flanked at dinner by Maxwell and Richie Achiva, Selita refused to pose for photos, leaving lots of fans at the Bombay sapphire sponsored event disappointed.

- Celebs came out despite the Sweltering heat and an outside party. Hosted by Anthony Anderson joked that Russell put him up in  an attic of hotel with no ac.

- John legends girlfriend got into the auction bidding up a dinner for 10 with Todd English with a gentleman across the room,  eventually going for 17k, and John Legend and Swizz Beats threw in an amazing last minute lot of studio time with the stars! Russell was blown away by the generosity.

Props to my people for keeping their eyes on the celebrity prize.

Pop the hood for most photo.

Drake Must Have Missed The Memo To Stay Out of Grown Folks Business, Comments To DJ Envy About Lil Kim’s Disses!

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Drake made bloglines over the weekend by poppin off at the mouth about Lil Kim/Nicki Minaj beef.

If you didn’t know, and not that I blame you don’t, the most overly hyped MC in the game, who’s new album “Thank Me Later” drops June 15th — but you can find it online now by doing a simple google search — told a Boston audience about his feelings regarding Lil Kim’s unprovoked attack against his record label cohort.

Now Drake is giving us all some insight as to why he felt the need to step in and defend his friend Nicki. Listen to what he has to say to DJ Envy.

Personally, I don’t think its wise that Wheelchair Jimmy involve himself in female matters. Comes off very gay to me. In keeping it real this is the type of sh*t that can catch a grown a smackdown from other grown men.

Stay out of grown folks business there Drizzy. I mean with so many album leaks don’t you have bigger problems right now? I’m just sayin.

For more Drake, check out MTV2’s Sucker Free Countdown this Sunday, 6/13 at 12p ET.

Props to Emily for sending this over.

Couple Scoop: @MariahCarey and @NickCannon Tie The Knot Again For Major $$?

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon got hitched for the third time in their Beverly Hills home last night. Why these two feel the need to parade their marriage around in a country when most marriages end in divorce is beyond me.

But I hear MC is no dummy because all her matrimonial pop and circumstance brings her a phat check

“Mariah is a brilliant business woman. Every time she gets married, she makes a fortune selling the pictures from her wedding,” a friend of the couple told PopEater. “It’s genius.

If what the aformentioned suggests is true, is it really wise for Mimi and Nick to keep rubbing their wedding bliss in our faces? God help them should they ever divorce. #imjustsayin

Plug Into The Scene: @SongzYuuup, Halle Berry @KevinLiles1 & More Walk For Woman W/ Cancer!

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Trey Songz, Halle Berry and others all came together in Times Square this morning to support The 13th Annual Entertainment Industry Foundation Revlon Run/Walk For Women.

I won’t even go there trying to suggest that Berry and Songz looked boo’d up because they don’t. But I can practicially here the gossip bloggers of the world pounding away at their keyboards to suggest such an outlandish rumor.

Per Karen Civil:

Halle kicked the event off energizing the crowd with reminders for why everyone was brought together in the first place. Much to the enjoyment of many of the ladies in attendance, Songz graced the stage to perform.

Considering the tone of the event, Trey kept it respectful and performed Sam Cooke’s timeless anthem, “Change Gon’ Come.” He hinted on Twitter that his voice was not up to par, but that did not seem to bother those in attendance. It was a respectful rendition to a classic and a great way to kick off the festivities for the afternoon. [More]

Props to Trey for keeping his close on all in the name of cancer. Pop the hood to hear Trey’s “Change Gon’ Come” rendition.
