Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Shoutout to the Blogger that’s on  his grind like no other. The homie sent me over some info on one his new artist Kenny Ali. In these trying times we got to support the independent artists in the game now more than ever.

Per Raha Entertainment

“Using an attentive ear to listen, people quietly awaits his advice, Kenny Ali’s debut album release, “The Barbershop Chronicles”, paints a vivid portrayal of society and the social condition we see everyday. With vivid transparency, this albums takes us in to the inner city and reveals the many interconnected tragedies that dwell underneath, states hip-hop journalist Rahiem Shabazz.

”

The lead single, “Did It 4 U” is already creating a buzz via the internet and has impacted radio in many markets. The radio-friendly single and video is solidifying Mr. Ali’s place amongst his peers as a force to be reckon with.

Gyant Music Therapy: T-Pain “More Careful”

pain

Title: More Careful
Artist: T-Pain
Genre: Rap

Wow, the classic T-Pain is back. Don’t get me wrong, we all love the auto-tune T-Pain who sings on every hot record but damn he goes in on this joint “More Careful” which is a freestyle over Drake & Trey Songz “Successful”. Pain goes in over the track and drops some serious heat, even addressing the situation with Jay-Z. Do I sense an apology?

“So let’s talk about the Jay shit/ Some days I wish that I ain’t never say shit/ And Diddy said ain’t no excuse for what I did/ But I felt like he was knocking the same shit that feeds my kids/ I do music ’cause I need it to make my world spin/ So when you down it, it’s like you dissing my girlfriend.”

Dope Record Alert: Sean Garrett Feat. Gucci Mane – “Up In Your Heart”

Monday, October 5th, 2009

seangarrett

It seems that Sean Garrett & Gucci Mane are music magic.

Fresh of a successful collaboration with Mario, Gucci and Sean have come together once again for a dope record called “Up In Your Heart”. The track, which is produced by Sean Garrett and Bangladesh, is a SMASH hit.

After penning hits for everyone from Beyonce to Fergie, Garrett is finally ready to leave his mark on the music scene with his debut album, “Bet I Penned It”.

Though Garrett stumbled with his first record, “Grippin On The Bed”, “Up..” is out of here.

Definitely a strong song to get the buzz going.

ATL Blog: B.O.B. – Paper Chase

Mood: Impatient

bob-aka-bobby-ray-and-playboy-tre-450x298

B.o.B. has just dropped a new song that’s blowing the lid off today’s posers.

There’s an old expression, “believe half of what you hear and NONE of what you see.” Well, “Paper Chase” drives the point home.

I don’t know who produced this track, but I love the message of the record. Bobby breaks down the falsity of the music business. I can attest that 98% of today’s artist don’t have HALF of what they claim they do. And the ones that do don’t like to spend it in fear of NEVER making it again. So it’s refreshing to hear an artist keep it real, and drive the point home that he’s no different or better then you and I.

Mood: Hopefull

illiamchild

There’s no arguing that the South has taken over hip-hop. But there seems to be an upcoming artist who’s determined to turn that notion around. And he’s enlisting pop star Christina Aguileria’s help to make it happen.

Known to the streets as Illiam Child, the New Jersey native was brought to my attention by the blogging homie Blogxilla. Child is a brand new artist straight from the streets, and is real as they come.

Check out his dope record, “Bet They Gone Hate Me” feat Christina Christina Aguilera.

Dear Brandy, Less Is More…..

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

Mood: Catty

Clearly Ray J’s big sister was feeling her moment with the vocals, and the weave.

Brandy chose to tackle an American classic, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” in what appears to be her bathroom. However, I think somebody needs to remind our once reigning diva that less is most certainly more.

While I realize that we live in Beyonce and Rihanna world, over singing a classic is definitely NOT the move.

I won’t lie; She came in very strong. But by the end of her ‘rainbow’ rendition, I found myself looking around the room wondering who told the former pop star that she was an actual vocalist. Don’t misread my last sentence – that was no diss. It’s just that B – thats Brandy, NOT Beyonce- was never admired for her strong vocals. She was loved for her hard work, cute dance moves and overall good song presentation.

But I’m still a sucker for me some Brandy so I fux with either way. I’ll just make a mental note to self to hit the pause button a 1:30 into it.

And is that a broomstick holding open a door in the background? What’s that about.

Sidebar, why am I thinking that Monica would KILL this song. Mo, what say you.

Title: 5 Star Bitch (Remix)
Artist: Yo Gotti (feat. Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj, & Trina)
Genre: Rap

Yo Gotti sure does have a hit on his hands. He brings fans a new remix (yes his second remix for the song) to his current hit single 5 Star Bitch, and this time he adds some major heat with Gucci Mane, Trina, and Nicki Minaj who absolutely murderes her verse. This is definitely an anthem in the streets and clubs, and apparently they just shot a video for the remix the other day. Are you looking for a 5 Star Bitch?

New Music: Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Swizz Beatz “Can Tranform Ya”..Or At Least They Hope So!

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Clearly Chris Brown is more focused on his singing career then handling those aggressive demons that got him picking up condoms off the side of the street [I'm just sayin'].

The embattled singer has dropped his official first single for his upcoming album, Graffiti called ” I Can Transform Ya”. The uptempo track was produced by Swizz Beats, and he’s also featured on the track along with Lil Wayne.

Personally I don’t like it. The lyrics are the same ole same ole. And furthermore I’m gonna need for CB to chill out on all the flossin’. I mean he’s still in the dog house as it relates to public opinion.

But what do you all think?

New Music: Toni Braxton – “Yesterday”

Friday, September 11th, 2009

-21

After a few years of being a wife and a mother, Toni Braxton is back to reclaim her throne. The power ballad is ironically called ‘Yesterday’, is the first record to drop from the well-known songbird.

I’ve always been a fan of Toni! In my eyes she can do no wrong, even with the arguable career ending “Vibe” cover. And though the song is definitely strong, it sounds kind of dated. It almost sounds like this should have been on a previous project that they couldn’t find a place for. It definitely sounds so yesterday.

Somebody toss Toni in a studio with Sean Garret and let’s see what they come up with. I feel the need to throw up my drink in the club to a Braxton record. Hint, Hint Toni. It’s just the way it is these days.
