With the holiday’s rapidly approaching, this year it’s extremely important for all the “haves” to support the “have not’s.” And it looks like one of the worlds most popular DJ’s -DJ Drama- understands that notion more then ever because he’s partnered with Atlanta’s Hosea Feed The Hungry to give away 3,000 Turkeys to families in need.

To reach this goal, all of the Radio One Atlanta stations – along with Drama, and other on-air personalities and celebrities – will host radio call-ins all day on November 16, 2009 challenging celebrities and the community to bring financial contributions to help purchase turkeys. This event will air LIVE on all of the Radio One Atlanta stations from South Dekalb Mall asking Atlantans to give back to the community this holiday season. In addition to being the featured meal at four holiday dinners – Thanksgiving, Christmas, Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday and Easter –the turkeys will be given to hundreds of needy individuals Monday Nov. 23 through Nov. 25 at HFTH’s headquarters.

This is an important event for not only me and the Aphilliates, but for Radio One Atlanta. The Atlanta community has provided us with so much love and support over the years and without them, we would not be the names we are today. It is our absolute pleasure to put together this event and provide to those who are in need. – Drama

Atlanta-based Hosea Feed the Hungry (HFTH), the Southeast’s largest food bank serving families and individuals directly, crosses a major milestone this year by celebrating 40 years of serving the working poor and homeless. This holiday dinner season and into 2010, HFTH expects to feed the needs of up to 250,000 individuals worldwide, an increase of more than 55 percent over last year. Because of the economy, corporate and individual contributions are down 35 percent, while monthly calls for help with human services are up a staggering 45 percent.
